Sterling USD 376 is considering moving to our hybrid model for the week after Thanksgiving break to mitigate potential spread due to holiday travel and the return of our college students. A decision based on the level of community spread in Sterling will be made and communicated on Friday, November 20th. We want to let everyone know about the possibility of this occurring as early as possible so parents can prepare for students in grades 7-12 to be learning remotely every other day. Grade school students’ attendance would not be affected.
Sterling Grade School
All Sterling Grade School Students will attend their homeroom classes at regular times every day. Students will be restricted to their classrooms for the majority of the day to help isolate and reduce the risk of spread throughout the school. Special classes will be limited and some classes will not be able to meet.
PE will be outside weather permitting.
Title I Teachers will still be able to meet with students from individual classrooms but students will be distanced a minimum of 6 feet apart at all times.
Students who receive special education will still have pull out services but students will be distanced a minimum of 6 feet apart at all times.
During hybrid, there will be no Art, Music, or Band Classes
Lunch will be delivered to the classroom
Movement throughout the building will be restricted to bathroom breaks and recess.
Sterling Jr/Sr High School
Schedules will be modified so that approximately half of our students will be in-person and half remote each day. Prior to the start of the Hybrid schedule, students and families will be provided a calendar noting dates of in-person and remote learning. Some students may be required/invited to attend in-person on other days based on need as identified by staff.
The Hybrid model will allow our students to maintain a 6’ radius in all classrooms and eating spaces to reduce the possibility of covid-19 spread.
