Due to a calendar conflict on the original date of 8th grade promotion, we are having to change the date. SGS Dental checks are tomorrow. They will start around 8:30. The dental screeners will come to your students' classrooms. Any child with a signed consent will also have dental cleanings. KSHSAA 3-2-1A State Wrestling is Feb. 28th & March 1st at Fort Hays State University Gross Memorial Coliseum. Wrestling begins at 9:00 am on both days. Admission is $11/person.

Sterling HS Girls BB travels to Colby to play Hoxie in a first round Sub-State BB game on Friday, Feb. 28th at 6:00 pm. The game will be played at Colby HS. The KSHSAA Sub-State bracket lists Hoxie as the play site and that information is incorrect. Admission is $8/Adults and $6/K-12 Students. No passes will be accepted for KSHSAA postseason activities.

Sterling HS Boys BB hosts Phillipsburg in a first round Sub-State BB game on Thursday, Feb. 27th at 6:00 pm. Admission is $8/Adults and $6/K-12 Students. No passes will be accepted for KSHSAA postseason activities.

The jazz night scheduled for Thursday the 20th has been postponed. We will send out a date for the reschedule when we have it.

The JH Quiz Bowl scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, Feb. 20th at Sedgwick has been postponed to a date yet to be determined.

Due to the potential of winter weather on Tuesday of next week, the HS basketball games against Central Christian Academy of Wichita have been moved to Monday, February 17th. The varsity girls will play at 5:00 followed by the varsity boys. There will be no JV games played.

While students were having their traditional Valentine's parties today at SGS, the Faculty and Staff were having a great time finding their TRUE LOVE MATCHES. They were tasked with finding iconic true love matches. Bonnie found Clyde, Wilma latched onto Fred, and RIP wrangled Beth just to name a few. What a wonderful Valentine's Day at SGS.





The Rice County Farm Bureau and Saline County Farm Bureau are celebrating the youth involved in agriculture education and are showing their appreciation to agriculture producers by paying the gate fee for farmers and ranchers and their spouses at the Sterling High School vs. Ell-Saline High School Basketball games on Friday, February 21. The games are at Ell-Saline HS, 414 Anderson St, Brookville.


Mrs. Beagley's 3rd Graders hosted a Bake Sale Auction during last night's basketball game. Thank you to all who came out and supported our cause by either baking the goods, purchasing the goods in the auction or making a contribution. We raised just over $2750.00 to go towards our goal for the Book Vending Machine. Our 3rd graders are very excited to watch their bill become reality.

Mrs. Morris and SGS's upper elementary staff hosted its annual Spelling Bee on Friday, February 7th, in the commons area at the Grade School. 24 - 4th - 6th grade students competed in the competition. Students were: Georgina, Beau, Kush, Paisley, Adelyn ( Champion), Annie, Aaron, Rylie, Mariam (4th Place), Royce, Abel (3rd Place), Ryder, Knox, Tucker, Ransom, Tucker, Harper, Wyatt, Charlie, Sam (Alternate), Gracyn, Brock (2nd Place), Landon, and Michael.
1st Place - 4th Place winners will advance to the county Spelling Bee in Lyons . Congratulations to all participants and winners! We couldn't be more proud to send our TOP spellers to Lyons to represent SGS.



Due to a lack of numbers on Hutch Trinity's Girls Basketball Team there will not be a Girls Junior Varsity Basketball contest tonight, Monday, Feb. 10th.
